Research Initiatives
One of the IIN’s key goals is to operate as a network of networks, complementing and augmenting efforts and capabilities of each hub. One way it will do this is through large-scale research initiatives backed by state and federal grant funding.

Governors State received an NSF Development Award to lead an IIN project for the Regional Innovation Engines program based around the concept of reimagining the supply chain for the 21st century.

The IIN coordinated an 8-hub project to determine the jobs and training curricula needed for Illinois' clean energy transition, and plan, develop and launch workforce development programs.
