Dr. Hui Li has been an Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) since 2022. He earned his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University (2019) and completed his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University (2022).
Currently, he leads a research team of five graduate and two undergraduate students at SIUC. His research focuses on developing biomedical microdevices for disease diagnosis, treatment, and drug screening to improve public health.
His expertise is reflected in high-impact publications in journals such as PNAS, Science Advances, Nature Reviews Methods Primers, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Sustainability, and Nature Immunology. He is also an inventor on two U.S. patents.
Beyond research, Dr. Li serves as an Editorial Board Member for SLAS Technology and recently edited a special issue on Advances in Precise Diagnostics and Personalized Medicine. He has reviewed over 40 journal publications and mentored more than 20 students across Ph.D., Master’s, and undergraduate levels.
